Pietra Scritta Ricevimenti – San Nicandro Garganico

The building, located at the foot of the Gargano, in a poorly built area and close to the state road that connects San Nicandro Garganico with the seaside resort of Torre Mileto, was built keeping part of an existing building and previously used as a mechanical workshop. The materials used in the design are Apricena stone, steel and glass. The particular and eccentric facade is entirely made of Bronzetto Apricena, typical material of the area, extracted from the Cave of the city of the same name. Considering that the reception hall falls close to the main road, it was essential to create a wrapper that aroused curiosity . The facade is characterized by curved stone outlines, projecting over the huge glass surfaces, which allow you to enjoy the splendid view of the Tremiti islands. The large irregular glazed surfaces and the thick stone elements, projecting from the facade, create full / voids that give the envelope a strong identity.

The connection with the first floor is guaranteed by the glass staircase, external to the structure, which connects the user with the landscape in which the reception room is immersed. The geometries are further enhanced by the RGB lighting design, which highlights the elements of the facade, creating a fascinating play of light and shadow. Outside the structure, the design of the green areas refers to the sinuous shapes of the envelope. The design choice to lower the external area with respect to the roadway and to perimeter it with hedges, has been designed to limit traffic noise. The interior of the structure is characterized by the presence of a fouyer at the entrance, which visually connects the ground floor room with that of the first floor, both characterized by the Apricena stone flooring, and by plays of light.

The stones breathe. Once every thousand years and our life is too short to notice
